I would be interested in knowing tips for working with kids who have behavior problems. This is an area I think many teachers struggle with.......it effects kids that aren't even in the special education program; some kids just need extra attention and act out. If you have any tips or suggestions, I would love to see those resources on your Nuvvo site.

Mrs. B,
It went great. The students really loved the Starfall site and it went along with the "ig" word family we were study in their book. The students were able to interact using the Smart Board to match the letters on the program. Oh, and the principal said it was great, he really liked it and he said the students really seemed engaged.

I think you should do what will benefit YOUR students.........if you do that, it should satisfy your principal too. Last year, I used the smartboard (which I know Nate doesn't care for) but I like it because it makes the screen large enough for all of the students to see at the same time. I created a game in PowerPoint that taught ABC order --- it was to the theme of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.......it went along with the book that we had read and the movie we had watched. The game did impress the principal, but the reason it impressed him was because the students were engaged and they actually learned!! So do whatever your students NEED; that is what matters ultimately. If he sees your students engaged and learning, our principal will be happy!

We probably should be clear that a wiki is any open-editing tool that allows the pages to be created and edited by the community. That should NOT be confused with Wikipedia (http://wikipedia.org) which is an implementation of a wiki created to form the worlds largest encyclopedia.

"I know that we can “chat” and “IM text message” people but I think there is something missing when you take out that human interaction."

what part of chat and IM do you find to be 'non-human'? :)

Johnny,

I don’t know what your problem is exactly but here is a tip to try. If you don’t have a icon on you desktop try going under start – programs – Yahoo Messenger – and click on Yahoo Messenger with voice. I hope this helps, if not maybe you could try downloading it again.
