Compiling my resources

Monday, November 20th, 2006

I will be creating a site using Nuvvo. I’ve been searching and compiling topics to use on my site. These are primarily going to focus on special education issues. The materials I have so far include referral process, various behavior management techniques, and some reading strategies.
I’ll keep you posted on how my site is progressing.

Time is drawing near

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

I know that time is coming to a close for this semester. I just wanted to send out a little note on the beginning of a busy week of family get togethers, food, and fellowship to say, enjoy your family and friends this week and don’t work too hard we can be crazy and stressed […]

Gathering info

Saturday, November 18th, 2006

I’ve spent some time gathering information I think would be beneficial to teachers or parents about the special education program.
Some topics I’m considering putting on my Nuvvo teaching site will be: the Referral process, Annual Review Committee (ARC) and Individual Education Plan (IEP), behavior modifications and a discussion page for comments.
I would like to know from […]

Outpost

Monday, November 13th, 2006

I’ve worked a lot of puzzles in my time, word, number, jigsaw, visual, 3-D, you name it but I’ve never run into anything like Outpost. I would consider it a type of puzzle but more of a mind puzzle. A collegue of mine said it looked like Dungeons and Dragons that she remembered from her college […]

Evaluated by my principal 2

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

In an earlier post I discussed that I was going to be evaluated by my principal and he required that technology be used. That doesn’t bother me because I use technology almost daily to reinforce instruction. But sometimes a good ol’ drill and practice session is what a student needs.
Mrs B. from TappedIn read my […]

Last Outpost

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

I adventured out to the strange land they call The Last Outpost. I definitely don’t speak the language and it’s kind of hard to get use to but if you stick around and find a friend I think it will be fun. I’m going to give it another shot today, hope to see you there.
My login […]

Final project

Friday, November 10th, 2006

I’d like my final project to focus on Special Education. I’d like to set up a central place on the web maybe in TappedIn or Nuvvo where Regular and Special Education teachers can go to find information relating to How to complete a referral, How to create a behavior plan and monitor its progress, along […]

Teachers Spending Their Own Money

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

Do you have the dream classroom?
Does it come equipped with everything your heart desires(or your students need)?
How much money do you actually spend in a school year(or have you stopped keeping track)?
If your interested in this topic read about some fellow teachers and their expences.

How do you know if students are learning anyway?

Saturday, November 4th, 2006

Nate posed this question. I think this is where the formal and summative evaluations factor in. We are twelve weeks into school now and my students have made great gains. They have advanced from not recognizing the difference between numbers and letters, the colors, and patterns to counting, recognizing letters in random order, knowing colors […]
